Synopsis
Yuna is a 15-year-old girl who is crazy rich from playing the stock market and becomes a recluse gamer obsessed with the world’s first VRMMORPG, World Fantasy Online. She spends her time playing the game and leveling up, but after downloading a new update she awakes inside the game in an unknown forest to learn that she’s back to level 1! What’s more, she has been given a rare bear outfit that makes her crazy strong. Her journey begins again, but this time she’s got a cheat to help her!
Background
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear began as a light novel series written by Kumanano and illustrated by 029 that has been published since 2014. The series also has a manga adaptation with artwork by Sergei that has been serialized on Shufu to Seikatsu Sha's Comic Pash! website since 2018. The anime adaptation was announced in the 14th volume of the light novel published in January 2020. It is being animated by EMT Squared with Yuu Nobuta directing, Hisashi Ishii creating the scripts, Yuki Nakano designing the characters, and Shigeo Komori composing the music. It premiered in Japan on Oct. 7 on AT-X and other channels. The anime will run for 12 episodes which will be available to stream through Funimation in North America and the British Isles.
Characters
Yuna (Voiced by: Maki Kawase)
A beautiful 15-year-old shut-in gamer, Yuna receives a bear outfit that grants her improved stats and magic. She has a refreshing personality and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. However, she isn’t good at building relationships. She loves food and it’s usually her driving motivation.
Fina (Voiced by: Azumi Waki)
Fina is a 10-year-old girl with a cute smile and tenacious attitude. She has a younger sister and a sick mom and works to take care of them. She can dismantle monsters. Though stable, she has a hard time expressing her feelings.
Noire Foschurose (Voiced by: Rina Hidaka)
Noire is the 10-year-old daughter of the Lord of Crimonia and is nicknamed Noa. She speaks politely and has an energetic personality.
Shuri (Voiced by: Miyu Tomita)
Shuri is 7 years old and is Fina’s younger sister. She is innocent and very curious about the outside world since she spends most of her time at home taking care of her mother.
Misana Farrengram (Voiced by: Satomi Amano)
Misana is the 9-year-old daughter of a lord and is nicknamed Misa. She is a well-behaved ojou-sama. She is good friends with Noa and is curious toward Yuna.
Shia Foschurose (Voiced by: Inori Minase)
Shia is Noa’s sister. She goes to school in the royal capital and lives with her mom, Elerora. She is an excellent student with a bit too much confidence.
Cliff Foschurose (Voiced by: Koji Yusa)
Cliff is the lord of Crimonia and Noa and Shia’s father. Though a strict and impartial ruler, he also has a playful, curious side. He becomes interested in Yuna after hearing stories about her from Noa.
Gentz (Voiced by: Satoshi Tsuruoka)
Gentz is a cheerful and caring man who works for the Crimonia Adventurer’s Guild. He is skilled at dismantling monsters and teaches the skill to Fina and other adventurers.
Kumakyu (Voiced by: Yuko Kurose)
Kumakyu is a large white bear that Yuna can summon. Like Kumayuru, Kumakyu has a super soft, fluffy coat and a childlike personality.
Kumayuru (Voiced by: Emi Miyajima)
Kumayuru is a big black bear that Yuna can summon. Like Kumakyu, Kumayuru has a super soft, fluffy coat. He loves Yuna, and unlike Kumakyu, he has a mischievous personality.
