Background

Shachiku-san wa Yojo Yurei ni Iyasaretai started as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Imari Arita that was originally serialized on Twitter beginning in February 2019. In September of that year, it was picked up by Square Enix and began serialization in the shonen manga magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan. As of November 2021, six collected tankobon volumes have been published under the Gangan Comics imprint.

A TV anime adaptation was announced in July 2021 in Monthly Shonen Gangan. It is being produced by animation studio project No.9 and features Ku Minamihara as director, with Deko Akao handling series composition, Haruka Tanaka handling character designs, and Ryunosuke Kasai and Satoshi Hono composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Cherish" by Kaori Ishihara, and the ending theme song is "Kikoeru?" by Maaya Uchida. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 7, 2022 on AT-X and Tokyo MX, and will also be broadcast on BS-NTV and BS-Fuji.
