Dragon Ball Mobile Games - Dragon Ball
After the resounding success of the Dragon Ball series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, a multitude of all kinds of merchandise and games for platforms such as PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile games were launched. Of the latter, there are several different games that focus primarily on combat between the main and the secondary characters of the series, although there are also other types of games as well.
Dragon Ball Legends
Dragon Ball Legends is a video game in which the user can play spectacular battles in 3D. These fights take place in real-time, allowing the player to control the characters when moving, attacking or dodging. Actions are defined by a series of cards that each have energy requirements, which create several different factors of strategy to consider in battles.
The player can also fight online with others from all over the world. As they overcome challenges, users can unlock new fighters, among which are popular characters like Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, and even a new character created for a new story Arc that was designed by Toriyama himself.
Dragon Ball Dokkan Battle
In Dragon Ball Dokkan Battle, the story begins with Trunks landing his time machine in a universe where the Dragon Ball timelines have intertwined and plunged into absolute chaos. Because of this, players will have to face enemies that go from the fearsome Cell or Frieza, to Tao Pai Pai or the evil “Majin” Vegeta of the Majin Buu saga.
The combat system of Dragon Ball: Dokkan Battle is a bit unusual. Players will not directly control their group of heroes, but will have to press “ki” balls to attack. In addition, they can activate combination attacks between their different characters, creating spectacular synergies that will be reflected in their combat animations.
Dragon Ball Fighting
This is an official licensed JRPG developed by Tencent in which the player will revisit almost all of the events and characters from the Dragon Ball anime.
The game shows the user living the story of Son Goku beginning with his arrival on Earth and goes through all of the stages of his adventures. Even the events seen in the most modern arcs from Dragon Ball Super are included in the game.
Combat is fought semi-automatically and allows the player to create a team of several members to face various opponents. During the battle, the player can only activate the special abilities of each of the characters and view the results of each attack through spectacular cutscenes and animations.
The whole progression system revolves around gathering and crafting objects that improve the various statistics of each character, allowing them to gain their new “powers” for the items that the player will find in different game modes and daily events.
Arena of Saiyan: Dream Squad
This role-playing game lets the user recruit dozens of characters from the Dragon Ball universe. With them, they can create a group of up to six warriors to face some of the most popular enemies of Son Goku and the other characters.
While, of course, players will be able to have Goku himself in their party, other characters like Vegeta, Bulma, Frieza (in several different transformations), Yamcha, Son Gohan, and more. In addition, all of the Saiyan characters can eventually evolve into more powerful versions as they progress.
The Arena of Saiyan: Dream Squad’s combat system is semi-automatic. The player’s character will automatically attack the closest enemies, but the user can also activate their special abilities at any time. This special ability will depend on the level of the character, although they can also improve out effective it is throughout the game.
Between battles, players can equip their characters with lots of different items. As they move forward and get better equipment, they will have access to more powerful elements.
Dragon Ball Strongest Warrior
Similar to Dragon Ball Fighting, in Dragon Ball Strongest Warrior, the player will be able to relive all the adventures of Son Goku, from his arrival on Earth, to his many battles in Dragon Ball, to the intense events from Dragon Ball Z.
Dragon Ball Strongest Warrior is a real-time action game that has players controlling their characters through virtual controls to move and execute special attacks. Its spectacular 3D graphics and free camera control lets players zoom in on the action, making it a visual portrayal that represents the adventures of the Z Fighters with ease.
As players move forward in the game, they will unlock new characters, from Goku’s first acquaintances like Chi Chi, Krillin, and Yamcha to enemies that later become comrades such as Piccolo or Vegeta. The number of characters in the game is constantly increasing and can all be used interchangeably in certain missions.
