Summary

Sorbet, the current leader of Frieza’s army, orders his subordinates to find the Dragon Balls. They manage to convince Pilaf, Shu, and Mai to help collect them, although Mai tries to shoot Sorbet, which is not very effective. Meanwhile, Piccolo babysits while Gohan and Videl are out shopping.

Pilaf is able to summon Shenron and they let Sorbet wish for Frieza to come back to life. However, Shenron tells them that his body has already been cut into pieces by Future Trunks’ sword. Tagoma (Sorbet's right-hand man) reminds him of the regeneration machine and Sorbet orders Shenron to resurrect him. Like the dragon mentioned, Frieza gets revived in nothing more than pieces. Shenron asks for another wish, which surprises Sorbet, Shu wishes for a million Zeni. Gohan and Piccolo feel that Shenron is gone and are concerned about what was wished for.

After recovering his full body in the regeneration machine, Freiza tests his powers out on two of Sorbet's troops, including Tagoma. He starts planning his revenge on the Saiyans, however, Frieza is informed that Goku is stronger than ever and had defeated Majin Buu and fought with Beerus, causing Frieza to train for the first time in his life.

Meanwhile, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman travels to Earth and warns Bulma of Frieza's resurrection. Bulma only has an hour to gather fighters before Frieza arrives. By some unfortunate coincidences, most of their powerful fighters are unable to join in the fight.

Goku and Vegeta are off training on Beerus’ planet with Whis. Whis warns the two of their weaknesses and tells them their end goal should be to master the ability to make their body move independently.

Beerus wakes up and sneezes, destroying a nearby planet. He asks how Goku and Vegeta got there, Beerus figures out that Whis brought them in exchange for food and asks for some of the pizza they offered.

On Earth, Frieza's army arrives, assembles his army, and fires on a city. Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, Gohan, Master Roshi, and Krillin gather to fight Frieza and his army.

Bulma and Jaco land and sees Frieza and his army and notices that Goku isn’t there yet. Master Roshi says that fighting the army might give them some time until Goku arrives. Shisami joins in to fight Piccolo and karate-chops the Namekian down. In return, Gohan transforms into a Super Saiyan and beats Shisami with one punch.

Frieza is disappointed with his army and blasts them with an energy blast. Then he goes straight for Gohan and punches him once, making his heart stop. Piccolo charges his heart and gives him Senzu beans, an item that greatly impresses Frieza.

Bulma finally gets through to Whis by offering him a strawberry parfait. With this chance, she contacts Goku and Vegeta to tell them that Frieza is attacking Earth and that they need help. Goku prepares to use Instant Transmission and asks Bulma to have someone power up so he can locate them easier. Now that the two strongest fighters from Earth are on the battlefield, the fight can truly begin.

Frieza tells Goku of his suffering in Hell and starts the fight. He transforms all way up to his Final Form but is still unable to defeat Goku, though he reveals that he is still holding back. The two agree to fight seriously, so Goku transforms into his Super Saiyan Blue transformation while Frieza evolves to his new Golden Frieza form.

Whis and Beerus arrive to have a taste of Bulma's parfait. Frieza gains the upper hand in their fight, but both Goku and Vegeta can tell that Frieza’s transformation is draining his powers quickly because he hasn't fully mastered it yet. Goku quickly begins to gain the upper hand.

Goku gives Frieza a chance to leave, but then Frieza signals for Sorbet to shoot Goku while his guard is down. Frieza, now at a great advantage, starts kicking Goku several times. Krillin and the others want to help, but they get blown away.

As Vegeta watches, Frieza proposes a deal. If Vegeta were to kill Goku, Frieza would let him become his Supreme Commander. Vegeta refuses the offer and goes Super Saiyan Blue, allowing Krillin to give Goku a Senzu bean.

When Frieza attacks Vegeta, Vegeta deflects the shot and heads to Sorbet to kill him. Frieza, Vegeta’s next target, is humiliated and blasts Earth's core, destroying the planet. Goku, Beerus, Whis, and a few other fighters manage to survive. Whis tells Goku the lesson he needs to learn and gives Goku another chance to finish the fight by turning back time by 3 minutes. Time goes back to just before Vegeta blasts Frieza, allowing Goku to intervene and end Frieza with Kamehameha.

Vegeta scolds Goku for interfering, though Bulma explains the situation later on. Bulma offers a feast to Whis and Beerus in exchange for saving the Earth. In the end, Whis and Beerus return to their planet, while Goku and Vegeta disagree about teaming up together to defeat their opponents.

In the post-credits scene, Frieza is welcomed back in Hell, much to his disappointment and frustration.
