OtapediaVegetto - Dragon Ball

Vegetto (sometimes also spelled Vegito or Vegerot) is a character that is created after Goku and Vegeta fuse together using Potara earrings. Although his Fusion Dance counterpart Gogeta is likely equally as strong as Vegetto, Gogeta didn’t make a canonical appearance until Dragon Ball Super: Broly. As such, Vegetto is the strongest character in Akira Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga.

Character and Personality

Like Gogeta, Vegetto is voiced by both Masako Nozawa (Goku’s voice actress) and Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta’s voice actor). Both voices are simply overlayed on top of each other. In the English Funimation dub, Sean Schemmel and Christopher Sabat voice Vegetto.

Vegetto wears an outfit that combines elements of the clothing that Goku and Vegeta wear. Although Vegetto’s suit mainly borrows from Vegeta’s attire, Goku’s classic orange gi is represented as an orange undershirt worn under the blue suit. Vegetto also wears Vegeta’s gloves and boots as well. Of course, Vegetto also sports a pair of Potara earrings, the items required for the fusion to take place. His hair is also much like Vegeta’s, but has two bangs sticking out in the shape of a “V”.

In terms of his personality, Vegetto shows Vegeta’s arrogance, pride, and strategic mind while Goku’s carefree and cheerful personality also shines through as well. He likes to toy with his opponents quite often and even cracks jokes at them. For example, after Super Buu turns him into candy, Vegetto proclaims that he is “a jawbreaker...the strongest candy there is!” Both sides of his personality are shown when he is absorbed by Super Buu, as Vegetto knew he could destroy the monster at any point, but decided to toy with him instead. Vegetto also understood, however, that destroying Super Buu would also likely kill all of the people that he had absorbed as well. As such, Vegetto killed two birds with one stone and created an opportunity to play around with Super Buu while also creating an opportunity to save his friends and family at the same time. His strategic mind is also shown after Super Buu tries to absorb him for a second time. He manages to carefully use his energy to seal Buu within himself and force him back out.

Vegetto in Dragon Ball Super is nearly identical to his appearance in Dragon Ball Z, but is much more serious, as his enemy knows about Potara fusion in great detail and can exploit the technique’s weaknesses. He wastes no time in provoking the enemy or drawing out the battle, though he still mocks the enemy for their messy form.

Transformations

  • Super Saiyan: Like Goku and Vegeta, Vegetto is capable of transforming into a Super Saiyan. In this form, he tells Super Buu to call him Super Vegetto, a trait likely taken from Vegeta when he transformed into his Ascended Super Saiyan form. In this form, Vegetto can easily overpower Buu and even has sparks of bio-electricity like Super Saiyan 2, though he is apparently only using Super Saiyan 1 when fighting Buu.

  • Candy Form: After being turned into candy by Super Buu, Vegetto transforms into a coffee-flavored jawbreaker. Due to his sheer amount of strength, Vegetto is completely capable of moving and speaking to the point of dealing damage to Super Buu while mocking him at the same time. Due to his small size, Vegetto is all but impossible to hit. One of the only downsides to this form is that he is unable to use any energy-based attacks.

  • Super Saiyan 2: In Dragon Ball Heroes, Vegetto can transform into a Super Saiyan 2. His appearance in this form is largely the same, though he does lose one of his bangs in the transformation.

  • Super Saiyan 3: Also a transformation that only appears in Dragon Ball Heroes. Although promotional materials and the artwork on the cards for the game show him with two bangs in this form, Vegetto only has one in-game.

  • God-like Saiyan: This form is available to those who are capable of turning into a Super Saiyan God and allows those who use it to have the strength of the God form without the actual transformation. Achieving this state is a requirement for transforming into Super Saiyan Blue.

  • Super Saiyan Blue: This form of Vegetto first appeared in Dragon Ball Super. In this state, he refers to himself as “Vegito Blue” (anime) or “Blue Vegerot” (manga). This form was used to fight against Fused Zamasu in the Future Trunks saga.

  • Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken: Another form unique to Dragon Ball Heroes. This form is essentially Super Saiyan Blue that is further boosted with Goku’s Kaio-ken technique.

Techniques and Abilities

  • Big Bang Flash: This attack is based on one of Vegeta’s signature attacks, the Big Bang Attack. Although the original attack is an energy sphere, Big Bang Flash is a beam. The Big Bang Flash was used against Super Buu in an attempt to belittle him after the foe tried to damage Vegetto with an energy blast of his own.

  • Final Kamehameha: A fusion of both Vegeta’s Final Flash and Goku’s Kamehameha. The technique begins by Vegetto bringing his hands together in front of himself as if he were charging a Final Flash. Then, he shifts his hands to his side and continues charging the attack like a Kamehameha.

  • Spirit Sword: This attack uses a condensed form of energy to create a blade that can be manipulated at will. Several variations on this technique can be found in games like Dragon Ball Fusions and Dragon Ball Heroes.
