Whis - Dragon Ball
Whis is a Dragon Ball character created by Akira Toriyama. His first appearance is in the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie in the 2013 film feature as the attendant of the main antagonist Lord Beerus and returns as a supporting character in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' movie and as a main protagonist character in the Dragon Ball Super manga and anime series.
Character and Personality
Whis is an angel and attendant to the God of Destruction Beerus. His appearance is human-based, unlike Beerus. He has pale blue skin, white hair, violet eyes with effeminate features. He holds a long Scepter, the Angel Attendant Staff with a floating gem (Metamo-Ring) on his right hand. A large light blue ring is floating around his neck. His outfit is a maroon long sleeve robe, a black cuirass with dangling white and orange diamond decoration and a blue sash, he wears black high heels shoes with white spats.
Despite his peaceful, aloof, calm personality, Whis is absent-minded and effeminate, he is very eccentric, and his priorities can sometimes be questionable. He stays calm even when his student, Beerus, is on an extreme rampage, although this often irritates him when his student goes too far. He can be very insightful and carefree and does not get surprised with anything that is not directly involving Beerus, for example like being impressed with Hit's Time Skip or Goku's Kaio Ken.
After seeing Goku master Ultra Instinct, he felt proud as a teacher and was thrilled with Goku's progress from learning the lessons he had taught him. He does show emotions despite being such a carefree individual. One time was when he became nervous when Zeno desired to meet Goku, which is understandable because the situation involves the Omni-King. He became exasperated on Goku's behavior towards the Grand Minister and Zeno, showing confusion when Goku gave Zeno his nickname. Still, he has a respectful behavior, well-mannered and does not like poor table manners, usually commenting on Beerus sloppy eating whenever visiting a planet.
Background
Whis was trained by his elder sister Vados, who is the angel and attendant of the God of Destruction Champa. She was responsible for training Whis, while Whis trains Beerus in martial arts. As Beerus' martial arts teacher, his level of power maintains to be greater than Beerus. He can easily knock out Beerus when he went on a rampage through a single neck chop, as seen in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Whis shows fast lightning speed, much faster than Goku as seen in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F during their training with Goku and Vegeta, dodging their strikes even with his hands behind his back, then blocking their punches with the use of a single finger only. While he toys on * Super Saiyan C-type Broly on Dragon Ball Super: Broly by dodging his attacks easily, swiftly moving using only his normal movements. He claims to be the fastest in the universe by moving through Nebulas in Dragon Ball Super although he admits that his father, the Grand Minister's power is much stronger. The only being stronger would be Zeno and Future Zeno. At some point, Vados states to Goku and Vegeta that she is stronger than Whis, but Whis believes that they are both equally matched.

Whis and Beerus visit a hog-like humanoid planet, but Beerus displeased by the offering, he destroys half of it, Whis tells him he was harsh and commented with his lack of table manners. Whis heads to another planet to find dinosaur meat, Beerus destroys the planet again and is reminded of his dream to meet the Super Saiyan God. Oracle Fish is summoned & made to remember about the Super Saiyan God. Whis tells Beerus of Frieza's defeat by a Saiyan. He uses his scepter to find them packs up lunch for two and sets to journey to King Kai’s planet.Golden Frieza Saga
Whis visits Bulma and tries new food from time to time. He trains Goku and Vegeta. Later on in the series. Goku fights Frieza, but Frieza blows up the Earth. Whis transports Goku and his friends and allow them to turn back time for three minutes to defeat Frieza. Goku succeeds, Whis attends a feast at Capsule Corp.Universe 6 Saga
Whis oversees training with Goku and Vegeta and gives the new name "Super Saiyan Blue" for Goku. Whis accompanies Goku and the team for a tournament by Champa. He watches the match tournament and is surprised to see Hit manipulates time like he can. After the tournament, Whis makes a wish to the Super Dragon Balls and directs everyone to Earth.Copy-Vegeta Saga
Whis and Beerus are invited to Bulma Universe 7's victory party and asks to invite Monaka. When Goku and Monaka fights, he stops them from getting too serious as they could destroy Earth.Future Trunks Saga
Whis, Beerus, Goku, and Vegeta meet future Trunks. They watch a sparring match with Future Trunks and Goku. Future Trunks warns of Goku Black. Whis uses his staff to broadcast Goku Black and Goku of the fight.
