Fate/type Redline

Overview

Fate/type Redline is a manga series set in the expansive Fate universe created by Type-Moon. It is an adaptation of the parody manga Fate/KOHA-ACE that features a revised storyline.

Plot

Fate/type Redline takes place during a Holy Grail War known as the Imperial Capital Holy Grail Strange Story and focuses on a boy named Kanata Akagi who decides to live a normal life instead of becoming a mage. One day, his friend gives him a light novel that depicts battles between powerful warriors with superhuman abilities that happened in Tokyo 75 years ago, resulting in a tragic explosion that killed over 200,000 people. Later, while helping his dad sort through his late grandfather’s belongings, he happens upon an hourglass that he accidentally activates by dropping it and it sends him 75 years into the past. He finds himself in the middle of a Holy Grail War, a war fought by seven Masters and their Servants all vying for the Holy Grail, which can grant any wish, and is forced into fighting when he accidentally summons Saber.

Development

Fate/type Redline is written and illustrated by Ryoji Hirano. The manga debuted on the website Type-Moon Comic Ace on Dec. 20, 2019. It features a revised story that retells the events of Fate/KOHA-ACE with new Masters and a more serious tone.
