Synopsis

Kansei University student Haiji has hopes and dreams. Back in high school, a blown knee put a stop to his athletic ambitions, but he’s determined to run again and wants to enter the legendary Hakone Ekiden marathon which is only open to university students. However, Haiji is in his final year so time is running out. One chilly evening in March, he bumps into Kakeru - a former elite high school runner. After saving Kakeru, who was being chased after stealing food from a store, Haiji convinces him to move into his apartment building, Chikuseisou, where he has already amassed a “promising” team of runners including 25-year-old heavy smoker Akihiro, twins Joji and Jota, international student Musa, country boy Takashi, fun-loving lawyer Yukihiro, quiz program-obsessed Yuki, and Sei who spends all of his money on manga. Spurred on by Haiji, Kakeru becomes determined to conquer his own mountain…
