Synopsis
Kurumi Azuchimomoyama is a totally normal 14-year-old girl who goes to Egaogaoka Middle School. One day she suddenly receives a visitation from “Devilun,” an angel who just happens to look like a Tasmanian devil. Devilun tells her that she has been chosen as the latest “Prima Angel” beautiful magical girl dinosaur angel warrior whose duty it is to fight the “Darkness Whales.” Wielding weapons stained with blood, she proceeds to indiscriminately purge the world of horrifying monsters. Meanwhile, three boys (who are actually the protagonists of this hilarious comedy), look on doing nothing much at all to help.
Background
Seizei Ganbare! Mahou Shoujo Kurumi is an original comedy anime created by Abema TV. The first season premiered on July 29, 2017 with season 2 set to return in October 2018.
Characters
Kiyoshi Suzuki (Voiced by: Yuu Hayashi)
Kiyoshi Suzuki is a regular middle school boy. Calm and serious, Kiyoshi is extremely interested in the crazy antics of Kurumi and co., and as they always seem to sort things out, he’s never at all frightened even when Gentleman Jacket turns up.
Isamu Takahashi (Voiced by: Wataru Hatano)
Isamu Takahashi is a totally normal, if boisterous, middle school boy. He is always quite excited by the crazy actions of Kurumi and her friends. His sad eyes seem to suit him quite well, though he is also extremely interested in “adult” material.
Shigeru Sato (Voiced by: Takuma Terashima)
Shigeru Sato is a regular middle school boy who is kind of an otaku and generally in a daze. He is up on all the latest Prima Angel and Darkness Whales information thanks to internet research. Shigeru sometimes makes fun of Isamu and is usually to be found wearing indoor shoes.
Kurumi Azuchimomoyama / Prima Pink (Voiced by: Yurika Kubo)
Kurumi Azuchimomoyama is a slightly clumsy but kind-hearted middle school girl. She meant to keep her activities with the beautiful magical girl dinosaur angel warriors a secret, but gave the whole thing away. Her killer move is “Death Frisbee Sensation” and she fights with a thorny staff.
Mizuki Sangenshoku / Prima Cyan (Voiced by: Hisako Kanemoto)
Mizuki Sangenshoku is a quiet and reserved middle school girl. She became a member of the beautiful magical girl dinosaur angel warriors because of Kurumi’s extremely insistent recruitment techniques. Her short-sightedness is cured when she transforms.
Mikan Unshuehima / Prima Orange (Voiced by: Mai Aizawa)
Mikan Unshuehima is an energetic and strong-willed middle school girl. Before she knew it, Mikan became a member of the beautiful magical girl dinosaur angel warriors. She speaks with a fake Kansai accent.
Ankoku Daimyojin (Voiced by: Seki Futoshi (Time Machine 3-go comedy duo))
Ankoku Daimyojin is the leader of the secret evil organization Darkness Whales. When he thinks about how annoying humans are, he gather’s energy generating items and assumes his final form. He is unexpectedly tolerant of his subordinates’ mistakes.
Gentleman Jacket (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
Gentleman Jacket is a mysterious man who shows up when Kurumi gets into trouble. His real identity is university student Shinji Aokiyama. Other than his costume he has terrible fashion sense and his face is often contorted.
Pirate (Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo)
Pirate is a high-ranking member of the Darkness Whales. Pirate’s plan is to get at the Prima Angels with nefarious schemes such as kidnapping, but there has been no success so far.
Karakuri (Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo)
Karakuri is a high-ranking member of the Darkness Whales and often fights with Pirate but is weak against ad-libs.
Devilun (Voiced by: Keisuke Matsumoto, Chiwa Saito)
Devilun is the foulmouthed Tasmanian devil angel who recruited Kurumi and the others to the Prima Angels. He is great with computers. In his awakened state he sounds a little sweeter and gets much more talkative. Devilun’s main source of food is wild rats and crows.
Previous Rivals (Voiced by: Chiwa Saito)
The Previous Rivals are a group of former Prima Angels who turn up at the last moment to help Kurumi when she gets into trouble. They are:
Prima Gold / Akane Kongouji: a haughty woman who fights with a bow.
Prima Shocking Pink / Nadeshiko Kyotendochi: an impish young woman with twin swords.
Prima Mecha / Ai Gakutensoku: a robot with machine guns in its arms.
Prima Spring Green (Voiced by: Lynn)
A new Prima Angel appearing in season 2.
Bystander university students (Voiced by: Hisako Kanemoto, Yurika Kubo)
A pair of female university students who know Shinji Aokiyama very well.
