Synopsis
The holy sword Excalibur decides the king of the Britons. A young man called Arthur was able to retrieve the sword and with it obtained great power. However, he wasn’t the only one with the power to wield it. Unleashing such great power led to an abundance of legends and a gradual warping of history. In order to put things back on track, six “Arthurs”—Dancho Arthur, Tekken Arthur, Yamaneko Arthur, Kakka Arthur, Renkin Arthur, and Ruro Arthur—have descended on prehistoric Britain. Their mission is to destroy the history-warping sword Excalibur. They are the Million. They will defy the past to save the future.
Background
Operation Han-Gyaku-Sei Million Arthur is inspired by the Square Enix video game which is part of the wider Million Arthur multimedia franchise. The TV anime adaptation was announced by an in-game event in March 2018, and the first season is set to air in October 2018. Ayaka Ohashi performs the series’ opening theme “Highlight,” while the ending theme, "KI-te MI-te HIT PARADE!,” is performed by voice actresses Himika Akaneya, Rie Takahashi, Nao Toyama, Yu Serizawa, Suzuko Mimori, and Rina Hidaka as their respective characters.
Characters
Dancho Arthur (Voiced by: Sora Amamiya)
Dancho Arthur is the wielder of the great sword Excalibur. Dancho is a reliable person who prioritizes team harmony and acts like a big sister to the group. Sometimes her decisions may seem audacious, but they are based on a thorough analysis of the situation.
Nuckelavee (Voiced by: Himika Akaneya)
Nuckelavee is Dancho’s fairy familiar. She is popular with a lot of no-good guys because of her bright and cheerful yet single-minded personality. Nuckelavee is almost like a mother to Dancho and takes good care of her. She is also 100% reliable.
Tekken Arthur (Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara)
Tekken Arthur wields an armor-style Excalibur. His behavior is rough and reckless but he is willing to endure anything in service of his mission. He values friendship above all else.
Titania (Voiced by: Rie Takahashi)
Titania is Tekken’s support fairy. She is an arrogant and selfish fairy with a priciness complex, but she’s so cute it’s impossible to hate her. Offering frequent criticism and retorts to the reckless Tekken, she often ends up in the right place accidently and so the pair are perfectly suited.
Yamaneko Arthur (Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu)
Yamaneko Arthur carries a heavy weapon-style Excalibur. She has a naturally stoic personality and would never talk of her origins to a stranger but is always serious when it comes to her mission. Others may think her dangerous thanks to her intense attitude.
Coopy (Voiced by: Nao Toyama)
Coopy is Yamaneko’s support fairy. She pretends to be an airhead but it’s all an act. She gets on well enough with Coopy, but wants to be the “cutest” and sometimes sees her as a rival.
Kakka Arthur (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae)
Kakka Arthur operates an Excalibur in the form of a book of magic. She is arrogant and self-obsessed, often looking down on others. Kakka is also fiercely intelligent and good at thinking about things in a logical way, but as she is immature she is weak against adversity.
Brigitte (Voiced by: Yu Serizawa)
Brigitte is Kakka’s fairy familiar. She thinks Kakka is childish and doesn’t really trust her but warmly watches over her as she grows.
Renkin Arthur (Voiced by: C.V. Inori Minase)
Renkin Arthur has an Excalibur like a giant hammer. She is a clumsy girl who wants to grow up quickly but does everything at her own pace. Renkin is an orphan and so travels from place to place doing odd jobs even though she is still a child. She’s always wanting to be taller and even sometimes stands on tippy toes.
Bodach (Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori)
Bodach is Renkin’s fairy familiar. She is brimming with self-confidence but also clumsy. Bodach is impressed by Renkin’s wisdom and trusts her completely. It’s not as if she has vast knowledge or experience herself, but seems so thanks to Renkin’s influence.
Ruro Arthur (Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura)
Ruro Arthur’s Excalibur is in the form of twin pistols. A man with boundless energy and has ability to spare, he may seem cold but it’s not that he doesn’t care about his friends, he just cares in his own way.
Bethor (Voiced by: Rina Hidaka)
Bethor is Ruro’s fairy familiar. She is extremely intelligent but intensely strict, even sadistic in her way of speaking. On the other hand, she is also soft-hearted. She has no interest in herself or the world in general but worries about Ruro’s future in her own way.
