Synopsis

Two years after the conclusion of Tokyo Ghoul Root A (Tokyo Ghoul √A), Ghouls still plague the streets of Tokyo, feasting on its unsuspecting citizens. Commision of Counter Ghoul First Class Ghoul Investigator Haise Sasaki has been tasked with mentoring the “Quinx Squad” which consists of four part-Ghoul quinque-carrying officers… With the squad filled with troublesome personalities, can he pull the team together before it’s too late?

Background

Based on the manga by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul:re Season 2 is the fourth season of the Tokyo Ghoul anime and acts as a sequel to the original series. It was announced in the 28th issue of Young Jump magazine and is planned to begin broadcasting in October 2018. It will once again be produced by Studio Pierrot with Odahiro Watanabe taking over as director, Chuji Mikasano returning as the series composer, and Yutaka Yamada handling the music. The opening theme is "Asphyxia" by Cö shu Nie and the ending theme is “Half” by rock band Ziyoou-vachi.

Characters

Haise Sasaki (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae)

CCG Rank: First Class Ghoul Investigator
The strongest investigator at Commission of Counter Ghoul, Haise Sasaki is mentor of the Quinx squad which consists of part-Ghoul investigators with quinque in their bodies. He does his best to offer guidance to the group despite their sometimes difficult behavior and has a strong sense of responsibility in his work. Having lost all his memories, Sasaki thinks of his superiors Akira Mado and Kishou Arima as parents.

Kuki Urie (Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa)

CCG Rank: Second Class Ghoul Investigator
A talented scholarship student who graduated the academy early, Kuki Urie is the leader of the Quinx squad. Fixated on joining the S3 Squad so that he can avenge his father who was killed battling the One-Eyed Owl, Urie is cool, calculating and prefers to work alone.

Ginshi Shirazu (Voiced by: Yuuma Uchida)

CCG Rank: Third Class Ghoul Investigator
A young man with shark-like teeth, Ginshi Shirazu has an obsession with money and agreed to join Quinx squad for the cash incentive which he hopes to use for a medical procedure to cure his hospitalised younger sister, Haru. Despite his tough appearance, Ginshi is honest, kind, and hardworking though he often clashes with Kuki Urie.

Tooru Mutsuki (Voiced by: Natsumi Fujiwara)

CCG Rank: Third Class Ghoul Investigator
Tooru Mutsuki was raised in the academy after his parents were murdered by Ghouls and looks up to Haise Sasaki as a mentor. Introverted and squeamish, Tooru is among the weaker members of the Quinx squad and did not experience an increase in strength or agility after undergoing the procedure. Nicknamed “eyepatch” because of the patch he wears over his right eye to hide the permanently active Kakugan.

Saiko Yonebayashi (Voiced by: Ayane Sakura)

CCG: Third Class Ghoul Investigator
Saiko Yonebayashi is unique among Ghoul Investigators as she is technically a NEET and former hikikomori. Saiko accepted the Quinx treatment, but has little motivation to chase Ghouls and is often chided by squad leader Kuki Urie for her persistent sluggishness on the job. She oftens worries about her “pudgy” appearance caused by her sedentary lifestyle and poor diet.
