Ley Batenkaitos is a Sin Archbishop of Gluttony focused on the aspect of gourmet. He is a scrawny short boy with very long dark brown hair that extends past his thighs. He wears dirty rag-like pieces of cloth. His body is marked with many wounds such as whip and bite marks.
Gluttony
The Sin Archbishops of Gluttony each focus on a separate aspect of consumption. Ley's aspect is gourmet and he places a strong emphasis on the preparation of the meal. Ley is often dissatisfied with how eating someone's name doesn't cause rage or revenge in future meals as the existence gets erased. In this way, he considers Subaru a saviour who remembers even those whose names are consumed. In contrast to Roy Alphard, Ley believes that since the number of lives in the world is limited, so too must the amount of worthy food be limited.
History
Not much is known about Ley's history, but he first appears in the story after the hunt for the White Whale. He attacks the remainder of the hunting party carrying dead and injured on their way home. He manages to eat Rem's memories and name (putting her in stasis) as well as Crusch's memories.
He is not seen again until multiple Sin Archbishops attack Priestella a year later. He faces off against a lot of opponents, taunting those in his way using memories and mannerisms of those he consumes as he battled. In an attempt to eat Felt's name, he grows sick and nauseous since that is not her real name. Beatrice pushes Ley to use his trump card - Eclipse - as she bombarded him with powerful magic after powerful magic. Felt almost put him down by using a power Metia created by Echidna, but Louis Arneb interfered at the last second and saved him. They retreated at that point but Louis threatened that the power of Eclipse could still kill everyone gathered.
The following events are not yet canon as it is only currently depicted in the web novel and the light novel has yet to catch up. The Gluttony siblings don't rest for long and even as Subaru and his friends journey to the Pleiades Watchtower for answers, Ley and Roy attack it with a horde of Demon Beasts. Unfortunately this sequence of events are not yet concluded at this point and remain to be written.
Relationships
Roy Alphard - Roy is Ley's brother and is also a Sin Archbishop of Gluttony and represents the aspect of bizarre eating. Roy does not share Ley's opinion on placing special emphasis on who he eats.
Louis Arneb - Louis is Ley's sister and is also a Sin Archbishop of Gluttony and represents the aspect of satiation. Louis believes that Ley has the wrong of it when it comes to eating and states that it's not 'what you ate' but rather 'who you ate with'.
Rem - Ley has eaten Rem's name and memories and has used them for his own purposes - knowledge of Beatrice's name and her speech and mannerisms.
Crusch Karsten - Ley has eaten Crusch's memories.
Natsuki Subaru - Ley calls Subaru his saviour as Subaru is able to remember those whose names have been eaten and Ley wants to savour the taste of rage and revenge.
Felt - Ley tried to eat Felt's name but grew sick and threw up after as it is not her real name.
Abilities
Authority of Gluttony - Ley possesses the Authority of Gluttony and is able to eat an opponent's name and memories. He currently possesses a large amount of accrued skill and talents from this power. Eclipse is the trump card of Gluttony and the full breadth of this ability is not yet revealed.
Accrued Skill - Ley leverages everything from martial art techniques and magic from those he has consumed whenever he fights. This does not include Spirit Arts or Divine Protections. Examples of his abilities are Huma, El Huma, and Palm of the Fist King (a powerful martial technique gained from Neiji Rockheart).
The weapons that Ley carries around and uses are twin small swords that are wrapped to his arms.
