OtapediaKantai Collection 1 - Nendoroid

Kantai Collection (subtitled as "Combined Fleet Girls Collection" and abbreviated as KanColle in both English and Japanese) is a Japanese web browser game developed by Kadokawa Games and published by DMM.com.
The game is based on World War II warships that are personified as young women with personality traits that reflect the history behind each warship.

The game was first launched on April 23, 2013, and has since spawned a media franchise including manga, light novels (January 2014), anime series (season one: January 2015, season two: in production), and one film (November 2016), arcade game (April 2016), and a PlayStation Vita game (February 2016). Though the game is played entirely in Japanese, KanColle has an extremely dedicated fanbase around the world.

History of KanColle and Nendoroid

In January 2014, Good Smile Company (hereafter abbreviated as GSC) released its series of KanColle phone straps under its Nendoroid Plus series. Following the success of the phone straps, GSC released its first Nendoroid, Shimakaze, in April with general sales and international shipping in June. It has become one of GSC's most-sold Nendoroids to date.

Since Shimakaze's release, over 50 KanColle Nendoroids have been released making it the most popular game series to be produced for the Nendoroid form.

#371 Shimakaze

This figurine offers the adorable and maneuverable battleship Shimakaze in a Nendoroid scale factor. She comes in her usual clothes of a sailor outfit that shows off her stomach and shoulders. Her iconic large black ribbon is sculpted perfectly and stands high.

The Shimakaze is nearly the fastest destroyer of her time, whose name means "island wind", armed with heavy torpedoes. Despite the great parameters, she was not suited for mass production and remained the only battleship in her class.

Shimakaze is always pumped up and prides herself in being fast, maybe a little bit too outspokenly. She is always excited with quite a hyperactive personality. Rensouhou-chan, the naval artillery cannons, are her friends, and Shimakaze talks and plays with them sometimes. Nickname: "Zekamashi" (as per the Japanese ship naming style misread in a layman's way).

Three airplanes are also included to display around her which represent her as an aircraft carrier. Lastly, the package also includes special effects parts to have her look like she is soaring over water.

The Shimakaze figure also has two different face plates to enjoy different expressions. Firstly is her usual expression where she looks slightly spaced out with her mouth in a small pout. The second face plate is one that can be paired well with her “half damage” image where she is blushing with her mouth in a slight frown. She appears to be quite embarrassed that her clothes have been ruined.

#391 Akagi

This Nendoroid is the carrier Akagi from the Kantai Collection series, complete with her archer's armor plate, the "ア" (A) minideck, and many optional parts.

The Akagi is an aircraft carrier, and former flagship of the 1st Air Fleet, kidōbutai "Nagumo". Had triple flight decks but re-built to only have one. Her known quirk is excessive consumption, both originally and as a kanmusu.

Akagi is amenable, calm, and gentle, although she panics sometimes when bombs come whirring down. She is also quite a glutton and can be seen consuming a large amount of food compared to the others.

#405 Kongou

This figurine is a Nendoroid version of *KanColle'*s superdreadnought kanmusu, Kongou in all her military glory. She wears her usual outfit reminiscent of a Miko outfit however instead of the usual red hakama pants she wears a short pleated skirt.

The Kongou was produced in Barrow-in-Furness, England as a fast and powerful battleship fitted by Vickers. She is also named after Mount Kongou which is a mountain located between Nara and Osaka which means indestructible.

Kongou is bright and cheerful and likes her Admiral a lot. She floods her speech with English, and loves black tea but dislikes the 5 o'clock AM. A good cook.

#426 Kaga

This Nendoroid recreates the reserved fleet girl, aircraft carrier Kaga.

The Kaga was originally built as a Tosa-class battleship. The Washington treaty stopped her construction, and she was then slated for scrapping for resources to convert Akagi and Amagi to carriers, but by another incident where the Akagi got damaged, Kaga was saved by taking her place.

Kaga comes off as a somewhat high-strung and antisocial fleet girl, but she is really just awkward and defensive. She expects a lot from the Admiral, but also shares her sake with him on a good day and helps him out in minor ways as well. Kaga is also rather protective of the other fleet girls if a bit overbearing.
